Noosa, Sunshine Coast: Loving Islands is excited to announce we have been selected as a national finalist in the Moral Fairground Early Ethical Entrepreneur Pitch Competition (our 2nd comp for the year)!
Loving Islands is looking forward to sharing news from our 1st community organic farming project currently taking place on Matuku Island in Fiji in partnership with the Pacific Organic & Ethical Trade Community (POETCom). The project is the 1st of its kind to bring ongoing training and resources for sustainable agricultural development to the remote island and has been making steady progress since the 1st training session took place in August this year. From initial development to current implementation, the project has received support from both local and international governments, with the U.S. Embassy’s Regional Environment Office in Suva providing funds in support of the 13-month on-island training program. In addition to our community work, Loving Islands will be revealing further news around our current online retail activities and our vision to develop of an innovative online trading platform to better connect remote island farmers in the Pacific with international buyers.
Loving Islands will be sharing the floor with the following 4 inspiring social enterprises: Fruit2Work, Generation 414, People’s Fabric and CAN. Each finalist will have 5-7 minutes to present their stories to the highly experienced and equally inspiring judging panel consisting of Ben Neville (Compass), Jo Walker (Frankie Press), Phil Vernon (Australian Ethical Investment) and Geoff Gourley (One10).
