Litia Kirwin
Founding Director (April 2016 – Present)

An Australian, I’Taukei Fijian (native) raised between Australia’s tropical North East coast and Fiji’s Lauan island of Matuku. Litia is an avid traveller and passionate about raising standards of living across remote Pacific communities whilst maintaining the environmental integrity the islands are known for.

MA Commerce, BA Communications, Cert. IV New Small Business, International Baccalaureate, Certified island kid.

The Organic Suppliers Network, Established October 2017

The Organic Suppliers Network is an online marketplace and resource centre for organic bulk buyers. The platform aims to facilitate sustainable economic development through organic regenerative agriculture. This Project is funded by Loving Islands.

‘Learn 2 Earn’ Campaign, Established September 2017

The ‘Learn 2 Earn’ campaign is an educational Program that assists marginalised youths generate a sustainable income through sponsored training and education. The Program pairs youths with industry experts for intensive practical experience for income-generating skill development. This Project is funded by Loving Islands.

Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Economic Development (YESDev), October 2017 – June 2018

The YESDev Project is a youth-focussed partnership Project in Fiji’s Northern Island Division to provide youth’s with gainful employment through sustainable agriculture.

Matuku Island Reef 2 Ridge  (MIR2R),
January 2018 – December 2018

The MIR2R is a marine conservation pilot Project seeking to build sustainable incomes through sustainable harvesting and value-addition of seaweeds. This Project is kindly funded by the U.S. Embassy’s Regional Environment Office in Suva.

Matuku Island Organic Farming Project (MIOFP) – Session 2,
October 2017 – September 2018

The MIOFP Session 2 is a direct extension of the successful outcomes achieved in Session 1. Session 2 will see the provision of infrastructure and further training to solidify sustainable incomes from organic regenerative agriculture. This Project is kindly funded by the United Nations Development Programme, under their Small Grants Programme.

 Matuku Island Organic Farming Project (MIOFP) – Session 1,
August 2016 – August 2017

The MIOFP is a 13-month training programme designed to develop income opportunities for Matuku Island communities through the sale of organic products.

Project partners include: The U.S. Embassy’s Regional Environment Office and the Pacific Organic & Ethical Trade Community.

The U.S. Embassy’s Regional Environment Office tracks environmental developments in 16 Pacific island countries and territories, and works with Pacific governments, regional intergovernmental organizations, and non-governmental actors to strengthen and expand U.S. engagement with Pacific island countries in efforts that respond to the major environmental challenges facing the region.

The U.S. Embassy’s REO in Suva is a key funding Partner of various Loving Islands Projects in Fiji.

 Pacific Organic & Ethical Trade Community (POETCom)

A not-for-profit membership organisation committed to growing the organic and ethical trade movement across the Pacific Islands.

POETCom is a training and advisory partner to the Matuku Island Organic Farming Project (2016-2017).

United Nations Development Program (UNDP)

UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion.

The UNDP is a key funding partner of the Matuku Island Organic Farming Project (Phase 2) in Fiji.
